Seismic data from the InSeis survey of 2001 is now available from the NEA. The data is free of charge during the licensing round and can be requested from NEA.

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) and the University of Bergen have acquired geological material from steep parts of the seabed on the Jan Mayen Ridge. Data was acquired from both the Icelandic and Norwegian sides of the ridge.

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate will acquire data in two surveys on the Jan Mayen Ridge this summer. Data will be gathered inside Icelandic EEZ in the Dreki Area as a part of both surveys in cooperation with the National Energy Authority.

The opening date of Second Licensing Round for Exploration and Production Licenses in the Dreki Area, Northeast of Iceland has been postponed until 3 October 2011. The new deadline for applications will be 2 April 2012.

Place names around Iceland in the Iceland Continental Shelf Portal

The National Energy Authority has published place names in the sea and on the seafloor around Iceland along with new names for the Dreki Area and the Aegir Basin, but those remote areas have few pre-existing place names. The place names are based on reports by Haukur Jóhannesson that were written at Iceland GeoSurvey for the National Energy Authority. These are shown as two layers; on the one hand, as a map layer, and, on the other hand, as points which give access to further information on the individual place names.

Aeromagnetic survey east and northeast of Iceland

On the 25th of October 2010 Nordic Energy Research launched a new research call on Sustainable Energy Systems worth 100 million NOK. The aim is to develop integrated solutions between Renewables, Low-Carbon Transport and Grids & Markets. Switzerland new member country of IPGT
